Sunday Film Club’s Roald Dahl season continues at the Library of Birmingham on November 2nd with a screening of Matilda. This critically acclaimed adaptation of Dahl’s children’s classic tells the tale of a bright schoolgirl who overcomes neglectful parents and her brutish headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, discovering along the way that she is capable of extraordinary things.
In the week preceding the Matilda screening, head over to the Story Steps in the downstairs Children’s Library and you’ll find a selection of family-friendly shorts inspired by young leading ladies. Featuring Hannah and the Moon, Miriam and her Kite, and a gorgeous hand-drawn animation from Taiwan, these shorts will play on a loop from Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November.
The final film in the Roald Dahl season series will be the BFG, screening in December.
